Women In Summer
If anyone knows the code to reverse the order of a Flikr slideshow I’d appreciate it. It’s currently running backwards, from finished painting through all the stages to the drawing, which is a bit awkward. Women In Summer, I’m happy to say, is finished.
(Clicking any of the images will stop the slideshow and provide more of the info I included for the picture.)
Also, I’ve grouped this series on one page by the tag, WomenInSummer, at Flickr, here.

Oh, this was a delight to see the process of the painting from beginning to end—like a time lapsed photography of chrysalis to butterfly. I hope you put more of these together.
It is interesting how the standing woman at the bottom of the painting transforms from sketch into almost a shadow in the completed painting—a spirit.
The birdbath outside my window here is a cherub holding up a water basin like Atlas holding up the world, although the cherub is standing upright. A mourning dove has come to drink rainwater. It reminds me, suddenly, of your painting.
Blessings~
Very Prettiful.
Howdy, long time no post. I missed your site and this post made me relize why. Your work makes me think, and i love to think. Seeing these women I think of us traveling through time. Each summer season greating us, as our roles in life slowly change. This past year I have entered the summer of my life, i do not have the role of a mother, but in every other aspect of womenhood it seems obvious. I felt it this spring when a sence of nostelgia came over me as everything around me was new and i relized for the first time that i was not. I guess aging, even to the relatively young, can be retrospective at times. So there you go, you painted something beatuifal and I got the opertunity to think because of it. Have a great, creative weekend.
You never cease to amaze me. Creativity is you.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. That figure you speak of, she was foreground but I didn’t want her to remain there as the painting progressed and so though she is a foreground figure I shifted her to a background figure. I didn’t think anyone would notice that!
Many thanks for your inspiration and support, dear friend xo

Sure is nice to hear from you, Zuck Sky! You’ve written me a lovely comment, too. It seems I am doing the same women, mostly one woman actually, from a life drawing drop-in session I went to in November 2006, in what’s turning into a series: Women in Spring, and now Women in Summer. You are right about the seasons changing and how we mature through our lives. Your comment gave me pause for thought too, my dear. Many blessings. xo

And YOU never cease to amaze me, Twoberry! If I did a quarter of what you do in any given day I’d be flaked by the end of it. A veritable whirling dervish you are! Many thanks for dropping by. Blessings my friend. xo

Thanks, Magi. Yes, dance! You creative soul… blessings, xo
my DSL is misbehaving so I had to bookmark the YouTube videos. As for reversing this no I don’t know. I’m not too saavy with computer programs and am not a visual artist myself. But I don’t think it’s awkward at all to see in reverse. It gives me a chance to look again and personally I like to see where it came from in that way… it’s unexpected rather than awkward for me.
I know I haven’t been by in a long while but it is so wonderful to see this work you are doing Brenda. God I am so proud of you!
